Description
Eating disorders are mental illnesses and not lifestyle choices. There is no magic cure. Eating disorders are characterized by a persistent disturbance of eating or eating-related behaviour that results in the altered consumption or absorption of food.
Bulimia nervosa is recurrent episodes of binge eating excessive food intake, lack of control over eating, self-induced vomiting, substance abuse, fasting, excessive exercise, etc. Negative self-evaluation, sometimes overweight, menstrual irregularities and fluid and electrolyte disturbances may be associated with the disorder. Oesophageal tears, gastric rupture, cardiac arrhythmias, tooth erosion, increased carries, calluses or scars on the dorsal surface of the hand GI issues, rectal prolapsed, skeletal myopathies are some more features associated with the disorder.
Dr. Robin Pollock will talk on the different eating disorders, their etiology, prevalence, symptoms and homeopathic treatment. She will also discuss few cases of eating disorders which he has treated.
